Hey, I’m Squid.
I write software for a living. Some of it is our product, some of it is the tool we use to get customers set up, and a lot of it is the AWS and Terraform underneath. On my own time I build Discord bots and Twitch tooling.
About
Almost everything I’ve put out there started as a problem I had. LiveBot exists because I wanted my Discord server to announce when I went live so I didn’t have to, and I’ve been working on it ever since. The rest is Twitch API experiments, small tools for other admins, and whatever I’m trying to learn at the time.
Work is three different jobs depending on the day. Sometimes I’m building features in our product. Sometimes I’m in the internal tool we use to get each customer set up. A lot of the time I’m underneath all of it, in Terraform and AWS and the pipelines that ship everything. Bouncing between them is my favorite part, because the same problem looks completely different from inside the app than it does from the infrastructure holding it up.
Outside of work it’s Go, C#, and Python, plus a homelab that mostly exists so I have somewhere to break things without consequences.
Selected projects
LiveBot
Discord bot that announces to your server the moment you go live on Twitch. The project I have kept coming back to the longest.
discord-user-reminder
Discord reminder app that works anywhere Discord does: DMs, servers, threads, voice. Installs per-user or per-server, shards automatically, and ships as a container.
TwitchChannelPointCalculator
Works out how long a channel points target actually takes, given your hours per day, sub tier, streaks, raids, bits, and gifted subs.
